Introduction to Photoshop

Lasso Tool: Allows to draw and pinpoint specific areas of a document.
  • 3 types of Lasso tool: Lasso, Polygonal Lasso and Magnetic Lasso.

Pen Tool: Creating a path from scratch. The fewer points, the smoother the path.
  • Variation of Pen Tool: Straight Line paths, U Shaped Curves, Simple S Curves and Complex S Curves.
Layering: Different images stacked on top of each other. Being able to use each layer without affecting another one to make adjustments.

Tutorial:

We continued on refining our physical collage design. Mr Fauzi helped us to choose 1 out of the 3 compositions then further making changes to some of the elements' placement.

Practical:

Figure 2.2 Final Composition (7/10/2024)

After receiving feedbacks from Mr Fauzi, he said to proceed with #3 and helped me out with rearrangements for one of the elements, 'Ode', to be moved a little higher.

Reflection:

This week's lecture was important for me as I’m still not familiar with Adobe Photoshop. It gave me insight into the tools in Adobe Photoshop, and I’m still slowly learning about them. Hopefully, I’ll be able to master them by the end of this semester.

Working on this first project was interesting and fun, as the physical collage reminded me of the arts and crafts activities I did in high school. Besides, getting feedback is always important, so I received feedback from Mr. Fauzi and searched for collage ideas on Pinterest to further improve and enhance my physical collage. From Pinterest and my peers' works, I got to see different compositions and perspectives in the collages. Personally, I’ve always enjoyed thinking about the deeper meanings or backstories behind artwork, so each collage conveyed a different meaning or story through its composition. Moreover, we got to make our collages in the Photography Studio, which was super fun!
