    Practical:

For practical, we were to design a poster and then animate it using Adobe After Effects. To start off, we were introduced to After Effect during week 10 to familiarise the tools. Next, we were to complete:

    1) Idea development (Biography, statement and mood board.)

    2) Design direction (Mock up poster sketches and sketch digitalisation in Photoshop)

    1) Idea Development

    1. Write a biography about yourself.

    2. Write a statement about your work.

We started off with writing a self biography and statement so we are more clear on what kind of design direction we are heading towards.

Figure 1.3 Idea Development: DPI Pinterest Board (25/11/2024)

After the self biography and statement, we were to search 3 poster references with different concepts and aesthetics for our mood board. Moreover, I also went onto Pinterest to search for some other similar poster reference then saving them into my DPI Pinterest board to further enhance my poster composition.

    2) Design Direction

    1. Create a sketch for your work.

    2. Create a digital poster for your work.

We received feedbacks during the consultation session and proceeded to work on mock up sketches for our poster design.

    Reflection:

This week’s assignment was particularly interesting as I was introduced an assignment which is to designing a poster of myself and then animating it. This task was a unique opportunity to create a self portrait that represents me through art that makes it a valuable experience. Moreover, observing my classmates’ design directions was inspiring as their diverse concepts effectively showcased different approaches to self representation.

Through this project, I realised the importance of composition in conveying a concept more effectively. Additionally, the choice of font is a crucial element in graphic design as it significantly impacts the overall message and aesthetic. Despite the challenges of combining these elements cohesively, I found the process both rewarding and insightful. Overall, this assignment has deepened my appreciation for design, and I hope to have similar projects in the future.
