FEEDBACK

Week 1

Mr Fauzi asked us to prepare materials and search for graphic design elements from printed materials for the physical collage design on week 2.

Week 2

We were to explore and play around with the cutouts we brought and start working on the 3 design compositions.

Week 3

After showing Mr Fauzi my 3 compositions, I proceed with the chosen composition and glue them together then scanned the final composition to submit in Google Classroom.

Week 4

We were to create 3 compositions using the elements uploaded in a Google Drive by Mr Fauzi for a digital collage using Adobe Photoshop.

Week 5

After showing Mr Fauzi my 3 digital collage compositions, he helped me pick out 1 out of 3 of them.

REFLECTION

Project 1A was a valuable learning experience, the physical and digital collage design provided a great exposure to Adobe Photoshop. I explored various tools and techniques, experimenting with colors, filters, and more during class tutorials and practicals. The physical collage design, in particular, brought back memories of arts and crafts class in high school and I had lots of fun creating it. I also enjoyed seeing my friends' collages and observing the different aesthetics, concepts, and perspectives they brought to their work. It was interesting to see how each person worked on the assignment with their unique vision. I remember my friend explaining her design concept to me and it had a deep meaning to it.

Project 1B was something different, there were 2 exercises. The 1st exercise, we were introduced to digital imaging, specifically using Photoshop to edit elements into a background and make them look like they belong in that environment. The 2nd exercise involved recoloring black and white portrait photographs using Photoshop, which I found particularly special. I really enjoyed this process, and I believe I’ll be able to apply these skills to my future works.

Overall, the balance of physical and digital work made the project enjoyable and well-rounded. Additionally, I learned the importance of composition in artworks, as good composition is a key to capturing the viewer’s attention and creating impactful designs. Project 1A and 1B gave me the opportunity to explore graphic design elements from printed materials, cutting them out then developing them into a new composition and exploring colours to apply in monochrome works which made the experience even more enjoyable.
